Welcome back, Jessica, who was our January transformation spotlight! We’re celebrating Jessica for 2 reasons: 1) May is her 1-year surgiversary and 2) she has recently met her weight loss goal! Jessica had gastric bypass surgery in May of last year and has lost 182 pounds. When asked what she has gained, Jessica shared that she has gained so much confidence, great bloodwork, and a new perspective on food! Jessica defines weight loss surgery as “by far my best decision aside from marrying my husband. It has given me a new life in so many ways. I am a better wife, mother, and daughter because of it. I thank the Lord every day that He has given me this second chance.” Since reaching her weight loss goal Jessica says she is on a new journey–maintaining. When asked how she “stays on the program,” Jessica wrote the following: “When I’m tempted to get off track or overeat, Dr. Westmoreland’s words ring through my head; Fat people don’t stay skinny. This experience has really had to change both my head and my heart, and I definitely have my shortcomings. I have days where I eat things I shouldn’t. I have days where I overeat and feel miserable. But when I’ve had those types of days, I remind myself of how far I’ve come and that I don’t EVER want to go back to where I was. I remind myself fat people don’t stay skinny and that points me back in the right direction. That helps me get back on track. I am terrified of the regain, so that healthy fear keeps things in perspective.” Join us virtually on Tuesday, May 17 at 5pm as we learn from Jessica about setting and reaching goals.
